I finally removed all the charcoal canister stuff with hoses and that cured it once and for all. Simply disconnect the one hose that attaches to the charcoal can that comes from the throttle bodies and plug that hose. Simple to tell what hose I’m talking about, when you pull it off it will be sucking when the engine is running. The sacred throttle stop had not been tampered with. I thought the stepper motor was buggered and so I bought another from Pete, same thing. Cleaned with carb cleaner to no avail. I tried aligning the throttles using the method posted on Wild Guzzi and it ended up even worse. I'm an instrumentation tech, so I'm supposed to know about things like this, I pulled the throttles off and studied them for about a week then I figured out If you move the bell crank too far it jacks open the RH throttle body resulting in more air which then results in having to open the Air bleed to try and bring it back into line adding even more air. The two throttles on these CARC bikes are quite interconnected by the idle balance ports so adding air on one side adds air to both like a 1/4" line between the two, there's also another line between the two, the line that used to go to the old canister. Try this without even thinking about using your alignment tool: Close off both air bleeds completely. Start the engine. If its still idling too fast it's the Bell Crank opening the RH body as I suggest Back the bell crank counter clockwise, hook your left forefinger around the back so you can feel the tip of the screw, it should end up with only 2 or 3 mm sticking out the back. Mine was idling about 2,000 after studying it for a while I re-aligned it without using any air bleed, its very close to perfect balance and idles at 1000 to 1100. I guess the thing I should say is don't let your mechanic break the seal on the Sacred Screw (idle stop) on the Left Hand throttle body I see Pete going crook about that all the time. Later on next year I plan on making a rig that will allow it to be reset. You could prize the linkage off separating Left and right throttles, that might be interesting, would give you an idea of how it should be aligned.
